Landscape
The region across a full year: canola in bloom beside a red barn, fog sitting in the Beaver Valley at sunrise, rain crossing an escarpment ridge, water pouring over an ice-rimmed weir in winter. Most of these windows last days rather than weeks, which is the practical argument for hiring someone who already lives inside the service area.
Wildlife
Mostly birds, and mostly patience: snowy owls working a winter field, an osprey returning to the nest as its chick calls, a bald eagle dropping onto river ice, sandhill cranes crossing a spring field, monarchs clustered along a bare branch. Long lenses, cold mornings, and a lot of time spent on something that may not turn up.
