Drone, real estate and tourism photography in Wasaga Beach
Beachfront and near-beach listings on the longest freshwater beach in the world, plus cottage and rental property imagery.
Wasaga Beach
What the ground can't show you.
Wasaga Beach runs fourteen kilometres along Nottawasaga Bay, with the Nottawasaga River behind the beachfront and the provincial park holding much of the shoreline. The market is a mix of year-round homes, cottages and short-term rental properties, and proximity to the water drives nearly all of it.
Distance to the beach is the single fact a buyer or a renter wants confirmed, and it is the one thing a ground-level photo can never prove. An aerial frame settles it immediately, and the same set doubles as listing imagery for rental platforms.
Pete is accredited member, professional photographers of canada (ppoc), holds the Master of Photographic Arts (MPA) designation, flies on a Transport Canada Basic Operations Pilot Certificate (RPAS), and carries $1,000,000 in liability insurance. He works out of Thornbury, so Wasaga Beach is a local drive, not a travel call-out.
What gets shot here
Two kinds of work, quoted separately and often shot in the same visit. Each one has its own page for Wasaga Beach.
Drone and aerial photography in Wasaga Beach
One fact decides a listing here, how far the property sits from the water, and nothing shot from the street has ever settled it. Aerial coverage along the fourteen kilometres of shoreline answers it in a frame.
Commercial and tourism photography in Wasaga Beach
A business with twelve genuinely busy weeks has twelve weeks to make the pictures that sell next year, and it is busiest exactly when the shoot needs to happen. Tourism work on a compressed season is about scheduling around that.
How a shoot gets quoted works the same here as anywhere else on the bay.
Questions
Asked about shooting in Wasaga Beach.
- How far is Wasaga Beach from Pete's base?
- About forty minutes, out past Collingwood along the shore. It is the longest regular drive of the seven towns, which changes how a shoot is planned rather than whether it happens: dates here are set to a specific light window and, in summer, to a time that avoids the traffic coming into town.
- Can a drone be launched from the beach?
- Not from park land. The provincial park holds much of the shoreline and its own rules govern what happens on the ground there, so flights are launched from the property being photographed with the owner's permission. The air above the water is a separate question from the sand underneath it, and both have to work.
- When can a beachfront property be photographed in summer?
- Early, or in the shoulder season. Fourteen kilometres of shoreline in July is busy from mid-morning onward, and a listing set full of other people's holiday is not what a buyer is looking at. Early morning gives an empty beach and low light across the water; a commercial shoot usually wants the opposite and gets booked accordingly.
The work
Shot around the bay.
A sample of Pete's aerial work across the region. Wasaga Beach sits inside the same escarpment-and-shoreline country, flown the same way.
Nearby
Also covering the towns next door.
The beach ends where Collingwood's harbour and downtown listings begin, the hills behind it are chalet country in The Blue Mountains, and south through the concessions sits farm and village photography around Creemore. All of that except the hills is the northern edge of Simcoe County, which runs a long way further inland than most people booking a beach shoot realise.
