Drone, real estate and commercial photography in Meaford
Harbour listings, farm and rural acreage west along the bay, shot from the air and the ground.
Meaford
What the ground can't show you.
Meaford keeps a working harbour on Georgian Bay with the Bighead River running through town and apple country spreading inland behind it. Listings here lean rural: larger parcels, farm buildings, shoreline frontage and properties where the acreage matters as much as the house.
Rural listings are the case where aerial coverage stops being a nice extra and becomes the only way to show what is being sold. Ground photos cannot show forty acres, a treeline, a river frontage or how the outbuildings sit relative to the house. One frame from above does all four.
Pete is accredited member, professional photographers of canada (ppoc), holds the Master of Photographic Arts (MPA) designation, flies on a Transport Canada Basic Operations Pilot Certificate (RPAS), and carries $1,000,000 in liability insurance. He works out of Thornbury, so Meaford is a local drive, not a travel call-out.
What gets shot here
Two kinds of work, quoted separately and often shot in the same visit. Each one has its own page for Meaford.
Drone and aerial photography in Meaford
What a buyer needs confirmed on a rural parcel is where it ends, what stands on it, and how it meets the water or the road. What an aerial pass over rural acreage shows is careful about the difference between a hedgerow and a boundary.
Commercial and tourism photography in Meaford
Cider and farm-gate operators sell all year on a place that only exists for a fortnight, which argues for shooting to a bank rather than to a campaign. Orchard, harbour and event photography sets out the seasons each one runs on.
Questions
Asked about shooting in Meaford.
- How far is Meaford from Pete's base?
- About twenty minutes west along the shore from Thornbury, which puts most of the town and the concessions behind it within an easy morning. Rural addresses take a little longer than the postcode suggests, so a shoot out on the back roads is booked with the drive built into the light window rather than tacked onto it.
- Is the land west of town off limits to a drone?
- The military training area west of Meaford is not somewhere a drone goes up, and no shoot is planned over it. For everywhere else, the address is checked on the aviation map before the day rather than assumed, because a rural postcode says nothing useful about what the airspace above it is doing.
- Does every rural property need aerial coverage?
- Most of the ones out here do, because the land is the larger half of what is being sold and forty acres will not fit in a photograph taken from the driveway. A house on a village lot in town is a different matter: a frame or two from the air places it on its street, and that is the whole of the aerial.
The work
Shot around the bay.
A sample of Pete's aerial work across the region. Meaford sits inside the same escarpment-and-shoreline country, flown the same way.

East along the shore the coverage carries on through Thornbury harbour and orchard listings and village and valley properties in Clarksburg, then up onto the hill for Blue Mountains chalet photography. West and south of this harbour the same county keeps going, and what a booking across Grey County involves is mostly a question of how far past Owen Sound the address sits.
